Meet Our Team

John E. Lewis, Ph.D is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is the Director of Research for the Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine and the Associate Director of the Medical Wellness Center. He is the Chairman of the Administrative Services Committee for the School of Medicine and the Facilities and Planning Committee for the University and is a member of the Faculty Senate. He is also a Scientific Investigator at the Fundación Clínica Valle del Lili and the Corporación de Lucha contra el SIDA in Cali, Colombia. Dr. Lewis has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, has been an invited speaker at multiple international and national conferences, and has mentored many graduate and medical students in exercise, nutrition, and health promotion. Angelica Mellilo is finishing up her MPH at University of Miami and applying to medical school. She has been a Research Associate in Complementary and Integrative Medicine since January 2009. She is also the President of the UM Public Health Student Association. Her research interests include nutrition and exercise as well as the impacts of the built environment on health outcomes. She is interested in narrowing the gap in health disparities through education and preventive medicine. She loves practicing yoga and sitting on her stability ball in the office.

Eduard Tiozzo, Ph.D is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He conducts research work at the Division of Complementary and Integrative Medicine and his interest includes implementation of various healthy lifestyle options in different chronic symptoms and conditions, independently or in combination with medications. Eddie is also a professor of NCSF (National Council of Strength and Fitness) personal training courses. His passion is eating chocolate and traveling. Eddie is an active swimmer and a proud member of the FLA (Fort Lauderdale Aquatics) masters swim team.

Evan Long grew up in Sarasota, FL. He attended The University of Miami for undergraduate and is a current masters student at the University of Florida focusing on exercise physiology. Evan is currently completing an internship with the division of complementary and alternative medicine before embarking on a two year adventure with the Peace Corps in Africa. Since adolescence Evan has had a profound appreciation for Nature, exercise, health and whole foods nutrition. Evan is currently interested in learning about other cultures and alternative systems of healing that are not based upon western ideals.
