John E. Lewis, Ph.D is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is a member of the Faculty Senate, General Welfare Committee, Legislative Oversight Committee, Medical Library Committee and the Chair of Administrative Services Committee. He is also a Scientific Investigator at the Corporación de Lucha Contra el SIDA and the Fundación Valle del Lili in Cali, Colombia. Dr. Lewis is the principal investigator of several nutrition, dietary supplement, exercise, and medical device studies. Dr. Lewis has co-authored more than 110 peer-reviewed scientific articles, has been an invited speaker at multiple international and national conferences, and has mentored many undergraduate, graduate, and medical students in exercise, nutrition, and health promotion. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is a former athlete and competitive body builder, who maintains a very rigorous exercise training regimen and has eaten a whole-food, plant-based diet for over 17 years. Eduard Tiozzo, Ph.D is an Instructor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
He conducts clinical research and his interest includes implementation of various healthy lifestyle options (physical activity, healthy eating and supplements) in different chronic symptoms and conditions, independently or in combination with medications. Dr. Tiozzo teaches at the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Sciences.
He is currently a Fellow of the American Heart Association in a 4-year randomized clinical trial in stroke patients. The trial is funded by the American Stroke Association and Bugher Foundation Centers for Excellence in Stroke Collaborative Research for Regeneration, Resilience, and Secondary Prevention. The intervention consists of a 3-month combined aerobic and resistance exercise training, with or without a cognitive training, among stroke survivors with mild to moderate disability.
Dr.Tiozzo is a member of the Swim Fort Lauderdale (SFTL) masters team and a world-ranked masters swimmer.
